Catch Calabria in 2008!
Things are just beginning in Calabria. Prices are one third to one quarter those of Liguria and Tuscany. Finished apartments can cost less per square metre than similar properties in Eastern Europe. Throw in a stylish EU country, within the Eurozone, a short 2.5 hour flight from northern Europe and an established rental market and you have a compelling investment cocktail!
So why are prices so low? This part of Italy has been neglected, from an investment point of view, for generations. Narrow winding roads and small airports did little to attract long distance travellers. Now, thanks to EU regional funds, impressive new motorways are taking shape, while old airports are being knocked to the ground and replaced with brand new high capacity ones. The whole region is suddenly being opened up. Prices are still geared to the old standard but this won't last for long. Now is the time to catch Calabria!
Update 1st November 2008: Calabria just got cheaper - at least in one instance! Look at LA TERRAZZA DI PIZZO under Italy. The Credit Crunch has a certain way of making some developers see the light!
